Another art journaling page. I drew the owls with water soluble crayons.

Imagination is More Important Than Knowledge

It’s difficult to read the quote on this page, but that’s what it says. 🙂 These words are often attributed to Albert Einstein.

Inspired by stuff we’d seen on Pinterest, especially Sandra van den Bogaard‘s work, Trisha and I had been experimenting with quirky collages. Fun!

Your Pain Is the Shell that Encloses Your Understanding

I have always been drawn to this quote from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. It conveys the idea that anxiety and depression, as agonizing and brutally debilitating as it can be, is sometimes a sign of growth. Though Gibran refers to the breaking of a “shell,” and uses the metaphor of a seed, I always envisioned a butterfly or moth struggling to emerge from its cocoon.

I made this page last month, but I was dissatisfied with it so I tore it apart and put it together again with a changed layout and different lettering. I am still dissatisfied. But I like the critters I drew and painted and the light vs. darkness motif.

Now I've Got John Lennon's Voice Running Through My Head ...

This quote is attributed to Euripides, one of those clever ancient Greeks. Or as the band form Liverpool said, “All you need is love.”

I am excited about this art journaling page because I think it’s my best work so far. I basically gave up art in my preteens and picked it up, off and on, during the past year. So I am very much on a learning curve with this.
