Art Journaling -- Zentangly Stuff

I love to doodle.

I drew the birds and zentangly stuff with markers.

Another art journaling page. I drew the owls with water soluble crayons.

My apologies for the awkward cropping. 🙂

The bird and beetle paintings and the background are done with acrylic paints.

Imagination is More Important Than Knowledge

It’s difficult to read the quote on this page, but that’s what it says. 🙂 These words are often attributed to Albert Einstein.

Inspired by stuff we’d seen on Pinterest, especially Sandra van den Bogaard‘s work, Trisha and I had been experimenting with quirky collages. Fun!

Your Pain Is the Shell that Encloses Your Understanding

I have always been drawn to this quote from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. It conveys the idea that anxiety and depression, as agonizing and brutally debilitating as it can be, is sometimes a sign of growth. Though Gibran refers to the breaking of a “shell,” and uses the metaphor of a seed, I always envisioned a butterfly or moth struggling to emerge from its cocoon.

I made this page last month, but I was dissatisfied with it so I tore it apart and put it together again with a changed layout and different lettering. I am still dissatisfied. But I like the critters I drew and painted and the light vs. darkness motif.
